Welcome to the Worthing Lions Annual Festival 2019
Hear Worthing roar when the fabulous Lions Summer Festival rolls into town from Saturday 20 July to Saturday 10 August this year. Find out more info in the July issue 4-8, where you’ll also find information from Worthing Lions about the charities they support and their president’s chosen charity for this year, Butterflies Breast Care.
All the fun of the fair
WIth rock ‘n’ roll dodgems, thrilling rides, vintage classics, inflatables and much more, Stevens Funfair has a friendly, family atmosphere with live performers and entertainment and runs for over two weeks this year as part of the Lions festival.
Modern wheels and classic steals
If you’re a classic car or scooter enthusiast, you’re in luck. Steyne Gardens is gearing up to be covered in vintage vehicles on 27-28 July from 10am-5pm, with owners on hand to chat about their classics.
On the buses
Take an unforgettable trip and board one of the restored buses along the prom on Sunday 28 July. Whether you pick a classic Routemaster or the familiar green and yellow livery of the vintage Southdown Buses, there’ll be a fleet of favourites from 90 years ago to present day. Free services will run all day from 10am-5pm, with stops including Sea Lane Café, West Worthing and Worthing train stations, the fantastic Henty Arms beer festival and a shuttle service to the Dome.
To market, to market
Over the last two Sundays in July, the Lions charity market returns bigger and better than ever. Stalls are offered for free to everyone, from mainstream charities to local good causes.
In addition, a field of gazebos will pop up in Steyne Gardens from 26-28 July for the commercial market, clustered with food, craft and other artisan and independent sellers.
There’s still space along the prom, so if you would like a FREE charity or good cause stall at this year’s charity market, download an application form from worthinglions.co.uk or contact Andy on 07919 023618.
Going out with a bang!
The magnificent fireworks display that showers the Pier with light every year is back for 2019 on Saturday 27 July. Taking place at approximately 10pm, the event is run for the public for free by Worthing Lions who bear the cost thanks to the sponsorship of Yeomans Cars of Worthing. Bucket collectors will be out in force so please give generously if you spot one and enjoy the show knowing that you have helped out a good cause!
Enjoy the Summer Festival and remember, the fireworks display is back on 5 November! Find out more info in the July issue 4-8.
