Martin Shaw began playing the trumpet aged 11 and in 1981 became a member of NYJO, remaining there for 3 years. In 1985 Martin gained a place at the Royal Academy of Music to study classical trumpet and jazz. In 1989 Martin was invited to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
