The Blunter Brothers
February 8 @ 8:00 pm - 10:15 pm£15 – £18
Back by popular demand after making their Ropetackle debut last summer, The Blunter Brothers, a Classic Funk, Soul and Motown band are playing at Ropetackle Arts Centre, Shoreham on Saturday 8th Feb
The band covers all the hits from artists such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield, The Average White Band and many more.
Originally from Sussex, The Blunter Brothers formed way back in 1989 and has become established as one of the premiere ‘revue’ acts in the country. The band was headhunted to play the Hammersmith Apollo for comedian Stephen K Amos’ nationwide tour finale and is the only band to have been asked to play at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year after-show party. In fact, they were asked back and did it two years in a row.
Dave Baxter, manager of the Blunter Brothers, said: “We know that there are lots of funky people in and around Shoreham and this is a great chance to see an old school band playing Classic Funk, Soul and Motown the way it used to be.
Members of the Blunter Brothers have worked with, amongst others, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Joan Armatrading, Mica Paris, Nelly Furtado, Joss Stone, Tears For Fears, Heather Small (M People) and Macy Gray.
“When I started listening to the tracks, I thought it was a recording of us 20 years ago! You guys really nailed it. Good, tight band.” Hollie Farris, Mr Brown’s trumpeter/bandleader from the 80’s said about the Blunter Brothers:
If you fancy a funky good time (and a boogie!), this is one not to be missed.
