Guitarist Terry Smith and sax player Dave Quincy both started playing in the London jazz scene in the 1960’s. They both became members of J.J. Jacksons ‘Greatest Little Soul Band in the Land’ alongside Dick Morrissey. The three of them then went on to form the acclaimed 70’s jazz-rock band ‘IF’. Terry was also twice named Best Jazz Guitarist by Melody Maker polls in the 1960’s. After ‘IF’ Dave and Terry went on to form a band called ‘Zzebra’ before Terry moved to Sweden with his family in the mid 70’s. In the 80s Dave led ‘Semuta’, a Latin-rock combo which frequently played at Ronnie Scott’s Club. He also recorded with the renowned alto player Jamie Talbot. Tonight they are accompanied by Roy Hilton on piano, Godfrey Sheppard on bass and Spike Wells on drums.
