Paul Higgs is renowned as one of the UK’s leading trumpet players and composers and has a sublime tone and a breath-taking technique. Paul’s own 2014 CD ‘Pavane’ although not jazz is a fine testament to his unique powers. He has composed and arranged countless tunes for films, TV and theatre. He has also been featured on numerous CD’s and played and recorded with people as diverse as Sir Peter Maxwell, Alan Price and Shorty Rogers. Paul has played in all the major concert venues around the world including Ronnie Scott’s. Paul’s ‘Brief History of Jazz’ sees him playing hits by the legendary greats – Bix Beiderbecke, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, and Miles Davis, amongst others. Taking you from the early styles of New Orleans, swing and bebop, through to cool jazz, modal and Latin. He is accompanied tonight by Simon Robinson on piano, Nigel Thomas on bass and Bobby Worth on drums.
