Opening this year’s Films on the Gallery Wall, Colonnade House is thrilled to welcome Screen South and GB MET’s music course to the festival.
MAKING WAVES: The Art of Cinematic Sound
Directed by veteran Hollywood sound editor Midge Costin, the film reveals the hidden power of sound in cinema, introduces us to the unsung heroes who create it, and features insights from legendary directors with whom they collaborate.
Featuring the insights and stories of iconic directors such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, David Lynch, Barbra Streisand, Ang Lee, Sofia Coppola and Ryan Coogler, working with sound design pioneers–Walter Murch, Ben Burtt and Gary Rydstrom–and the many women and men who followed in their footsteps.

Screen South will introduce an exciting talent development scheme offering commissioning opportunities for emerging creatives to make new artistic works in film, audio or interactive media designed for BBC platforms. New Creatives is for emerging talents aged between 16 – 30 who want to develop their original creative idea into a professional short film, audio or interactive work. After the film there will be an opportunity to ask one of the Screen South team any questions you might have about the scheme.
Mike Pailthorpe is programme leader at Northbrook MET and will be on hand to introduce the fantastic learning opportunities on offer.
Music courses at Northbrook MET are focused on much more than just making Pop stars and producers. Graduates from their Music Degrees currently score films, television and games. They now have many graduates making music for picture, including one with a BAFTA, one with a Royal TV Society award for short film, ‘Breakdown’, one is Head of Music at MC Saatchi.
