Carole Morris: Pastel Magic
July 7 - July 18
In a big step forward, local artist Carole Morris, originally from Coventry, is holding her very first exhibition at Colonnade House.
Carole always enjoyed art at school and artist Paul Scofield offered to teach her how to use oil paints. However, this was before the travelling bug hit and she spent the next 5 years travelling Europe. Following that, Carole then got married and moved to the South Coast to pursue a career in accountancy. So she had little time for art!
However, since Carole’s retirement 3 years ago, she has now found the time to explore her creative practice. A gift of a sketch book and pastels from her husband Roger, who always believed in her talent, has re-awoken her creativity. More recently Carole joined Anthea Blackmore’s art classes where she honed her pastel skills. Carole’s first love is still portraiture and takes commissions for both human and pet portraits.
Carole’s choice of medium is incredibly diverse as she also paints in acrylics. Some of these will be exhibited alongside her pastel work. Working with acrylics allow Carole to paint on a larger scale which, expands her freedom of expression.
Carole’s debut Pastel Magic hopes to be the first of many and hopes to give the viewer as much pleasure as Carole had creating it.
Open Tuesday – Saturday // 10.00 – 17.00
