Alan Barnes Quartet

Alan Barnes was born in Altrincham and attended the Leeds College of Music (1977/1980) where he studied saxophone, woodwinds and arranging before moving to London. He joined the Midnight Follies Orchestra in 1980 and a year later The Pasadena Roof Orchestra with whom he toured until 1983. He left them to join the hard-bop band of Tommy Chase where he first attracted the attention of the UK jazz scene. Since then he has been a member of the Humphrey Lyttelton Band (1988/1992) and led The Pizza Express Modern Jazz Sextet (1987/1997). In 1999 he toured America and Europe with the Brian Ferry’s Band and returned to America in 2000 to do a 10-week tour with the Warren Vaché Band. He has made over 35 records in his own name and has appeared on countless more. He recently celebrated his Big-60 and is keeping as busy as ever. He is accompanied tonight by Terry Seabrook on piano, Nigel Thomas on bass and Darren Beckett on drums.
